Items arrived in good time along with a very helpful note offering support should they not work. Luckily for me they worked fine but the option was greatly appreciated! Might get some more from the same, great seller, thanks!

Powerline - Absolutely necessary but not 100% reliable

Powerline is a great technology but is not completely reliable. Cat5/6 cabling is the best solution but can be expensive and messy to install across a property, although the cost of the actual cabling is insignificant. Powerline doesn't work so well when distances between devices is far and any disturbances in electrical power in the home (which are unnocitable to occupants) can affect the data stream. This set is reasonably good as it supports MIMO and higher throughput, which is necessary as the throughput drops significantly with distance. Using Powerline for streaming video devices such as Smart TVs is considered essential as they would normally hog too much radio traffic with WiFi (affecting other devices using the same WiFi network).

    OK but...

Easy to set up, but the power saving mode disconnects the pairing. Have to keep unplugging, replugging, repairing. Not good if you just want to use it. There is a lot on line about this and you can down load connection centre and reconfigure in theory, but I have struggled. Wanted to increase the network and it’s difficult to buy separate units , that are not a different version or refurbished. And there’s a lot of refurbished units on the market....

  • Excellent Powerline Adapter

I bought this as a single to use with the two I already had (unfortunately they are only sold as pairs usually) and within 5 minutes I was up and running with a gigabit connection through to my PC. These are very easy to use and have been very reliable in the time i've been using them (about 2 years), allowing seemless streaming to my TV and good quality connection while gaming. Overall I'd fully recommend these to anyone looking at powerline adapters, and I have used TP Link networking gear for many years without any issues. Another quality product from a top brand.

  • Provides good speed, great features and your not losing a power outlet.

The TP-Link TL-PA8010P was purchased with the view to increasing the speed across my wired network and to extend the wi-fi to parts of the house that weren't covered. I have used TP-Link power line plugs for many years and still use two of the original ones I bought (TL-P201) about 10 years ago along with other models. They all work with each other but you can expect the speed from the older plugs only to deliver speed at the lower levels. The TL-PA8010P was easy to set up initially but as I have this connected to a VPN router, and my older devices to the Modem router (2 separate powerline networks), I had to disconnect each network whilst setting them up manually. This was via the management utility. This was simple enough (if you know what you are doing). Works really well. Speed is ...

  • Easiest network upgrade ever.

Truly plug and play. Unpack, plug in, and switch on. Bought 4 of these as an easy way to upgrade my sluggish home network. Now I get full potential from my fast fibre router. Smart TV gets smooth, no buffering, HD streaming. PC uploading and downloading at impressive pace. Big improvement to my little home network. Not cheap, but looks worth the money. 24/7 Devices, so durability remains an outstanding question. But, all great for the time being.
