I have several of these and I use them "in reverse", so to speak. The title intends them to be used to turn wired broadband into Wifi in a hotel room or office which has the former but not the latter. And the first one of these I bought I did indeed use it for that purpose. But everywhere has wifi now so..... I instead use to connect my Ethernet-only TVs and PVRs to my Wifi network. The device has 5 modes and the client mode (I think) allows it collect my Wifi signal in my house and feed it into the ethernet connection on my older PVR/TVs which don't have wifi capability. You could also use it to do the same for an old PC which doesn't have wifi but isn't near your broadband router. A bit fiddly to configure, but OK with a bit of patience.

I had high hopes for this device, but unfortunately it failed to deliver. Bought this to turn a hard-wired only internet connected device (YouView box) into a wireless one. I needed to alter the IP addresses across the network, but every time I had it just so, the network would fall over and I had to reset everything due to conflicts. After running a number of tests, it turned out this device was at fault. I've since changed to using a similar device, and all is well. This device may work well in some basic home network situations, but if you try to customise anything, you may run in to zero solution problems as I did. As I've had to ditch this device from my network, I could not recommend it to others.

This device is really useful. I am using it in 'client' mode to pick up wifi and turn it into wired ethernet for a set top box that has no inbuilt internet (youview box). The power come from the usb socket on the set top box. It is a much better solution than ethernet connection via those (much more expensive) powerline adapters. It can of course be used in the other advertised modes and I did play with a couple of them (bridge and repeater) and it worked very well in those as well. A little bit tricky to set up at first time but lots of help available on the internet.

Bought this router as im a mountaineer and travel a lot and rely on solar power for my phone, gps and tablets to charge them and spare batteries etc. The TPlink router is amazing energy efficient and works perfectly and allows me to setup a mobile lan anywhere for file transfers, media streaming etc and also sharing my internet connection with more network capabilities. Brilliant device i have tested it and over 6 hours of being connected to my 50000 mHa battery pack that has lcd % display it used only 10% of the power of it. I was using internet and also streaming movie while camping to test it out. Simply fantastic and fully set up without any need of network cable at all. Definately recommend this product.
