I also have the Yongnuo version of this product which cost about 80% more. The Yongnuo maintains a consistent output on iTTL where this unit falls off, sometimes badly. The inconsistencies in output vary as much as 1.5 stops, which makes the iTTL feature almost useless. The output on manual seems fairly consistent, but weaker than the GN of 54. Cycles in less than 3 seconds using 1.2v AA rechargeable batteries. All in all it's a 'throw in the bag just in case' flash. Can't really recommend it.

I received my flash today so the battery life rating is just a guess. The zoom motor inside the flash is loud. The TTL mode (recommended mode in their manual) does not work well at all for my Nikon D3000. Everything is seriously underexposed even when I set the EV to the max at +3.0. If I use it in semi-automatic or manual mode it works fine. The manual in English is a complete mess. The complete broken English makes it hard to understand anything. Then there are the countless misspellings. I really had hoped for a better product but "you get what you pay for".
I bought is as a cheap alternative to a Nikon flash, and it is cheap, but I couldn't even put it on my camera without cutting off the end of a small screw that was too long. The menu is hard to use, and the flash power is much smaller than I expected according to the specifications. I compared the power to a Nikon SB-800 flash, which is stronger. You can use it, it is cheap, but I wouldn't buy it again.
this is the 2nd unit i have bought, the first was to replace my Nikon SB800. these units are a fraction of the price and I have found them extremely re
