I like this product because it is Enter Shikari. I bought it because I respect the band enough to buy their music. And nothing compares to Enter Shikari.
This band, with their energy and passion have given a whole new meaning to the average ‘Gig’, and turned it into a heart pumping two hour party, that leaves the audience buzzing and needing more. With the spectacle of glow sticks, finger lights, pushing and shoving it isn’t much short of a modern ‘Rave’. After choosing to go alone in the music industry, with their own record label, Ambush Reality, turning down major labels like Sony and EMI, they astounded the music industry with their remarkable success, and becoming the second unsigned band to sell out the London Astoria Before the sensation of Enter Shikari, some would say it was impossible for, four university students to smash the boundaries between musical genres, fuse together the passion of hardcore with the euphoria of trance and make a whole new mind blowing sound, like these guys have. Enter Shikari have set the ball rolling for the British music Hardcore revolution, this being the first and perhaps most important album of Enter Shikari’s reign of “groundbreaking” success. Following several single releases with two reaching number one in the rock chart, this album really does blow you away, from the very moment you pres play. The two minute intro ‘Stand Your Ground This Is Ancient Land’ plunges us into a fusion of synthesized sounds and sets the pace for this fascinating album. The second this is finished, we are bombarded by the adrenaline rush of the self titled song, ‘Enter Shikari’. We instantly hear the roar of front man, Rou Reynolds’ vocal chords, followed by the spine tingling resonance from the Synthesizers, yet again. Despite not being released as a single yet, this is one of the best tracks on the album. Several songs on, and we hear the most successful track in Enter Shikari’s repertoire so far, reaching number one in both the ‘Rock chart’ and the ‘Indie chart’. Following its release ‘Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour...’ had thousands of entranced, listeners repeating it in their heads, and the remarkable quartet Enter Shikari burst on to the music scene. Later on in the album we come to ‘Sorry, you’re not a winner’. Go to a teenage house party, or gathering and sooner or later you’ll be sure to hear this tune blasting through the speakers and the whole room mesmerised by this unique ‘experience’. Its lyrics, yet remarkably random, and apparently meaningless will have you gripping to the crisp sound of them. Lyrics like ‘’Sorry, you’re not a winner, with the air so cold and a mind so bitter. What have you got to lose but false intentions and a life so pretentious?’’, have the listener struggling to make sense of them but still hanging on to every word in awe. Despite ‘Long-Fringed’ teenagers making up the majority of their fan-base, Enter Shikari, are the perfect band for anyone, teen or adult, looking for heart-pumping, spine-tingling, new music and for the eager gig-goers, an adrenaline packed few hours, yet I would recommend, the more petite members of the audience to avoid the central ‘mosh pit’ area after a gig in Dublin last year had; six ambulances, a fire engine and police called. After your first taste of ‘Take to the skies’, it won’t be long until you’re eagerly anticipating new material from Enter Shikari , along with several thousands of fans worldwide. This album is an incredible marvel of revolutionary sound, and has really set the bar high for their future albums.Read full review
As most other people have explained Enter Shikari mix dance music with what is known as hardcore music. Before Enter Shikari released this cd there was so many different demos of the main songs floating around on the internet. These being: Labyrinth Ok Time For Plan B Mothership Sorry Your Not A Winner These demos showed a young band giving it there all with a little laughter included. The album versions show a band that know they don't have to give practise there full attention because no one can compare them with a similar band because there isn't many yet. I think this is the reason for the not so good quality of these tracks. If you want to get funky tune stuck in your head then I'd buy this album. But if you care about what it sounds like after a few listens then I wouldn't bother getting it. I personally think they were rushed to the top to quick.Read full review
My friend insisted i heard this album, so i gave it a chance, and now i want the time i spent listening to it back. This is one of the weakest albums i have ever heard and really should be avoided at all costs. The music is dire and the trance/emo crossover is something that should be burnt at the stake. The vocals are poor, and clean singing is not something these guys are good at. The two average tracks are the self titled track number 2 and track 16 "OK, time for plan B", but i am being kind. This record has far too many pointless interludes of keyboard nonsence and no direction at all. The band try to slow things down with the ballad "Adieu", but, i am sorry to say, fail miserably. Unless you really think you will like this, or have heard tracks and like them, do not buy this CD, as you will be in for a massive disappointment.Read full review
