After listening to some Tavener on the radio, I gave this a go. Oh dear - composition-wise, it sounds like a mess. Repeated discordant sections with no relation to the serene sections. A second playing made me wince even more, so another CD to be given to the charity shop !

I owned this when it came out. But was burgled and this was stolen. Isérois is playing locally so I thought I’d hear this again. John Taverner is the English Arvo Part. It’s quite minimal but full of umph. Great touch on the cello. Also some Solo pieces written by Britten which are dreamy.
