I used this calculator for a maths course with the OU years ago and misplaced it some time afterwards. Thus item arrived well in time and in perfect condition It's a bit heavier than modern calculators but does a lot more. Recommend that you get a copy of "Tapping Into Maths " , an extended handbook that gives you a solid grounding into its functions.

It's very difficult to get to grips with but that doesn't retract from how excellent it is. It can do anything that you need for A-level and higher education and has the added bonus of being programmable in BASIC. It's fun to use and if you're interested in learning how to use it it's definitely worth the money.

I am a retired civil engineer with time on hand and with a hankering to renew my acquaintance with maths which I last did at school and then university. The graphic features of the TI-83 suddenly made once difficult things easy. What I could have done with it if I had had one when I did my higher maths (Scottish System)!! Statistical calculations made sense too. It was possible to spend more time considering results of calculations rather than time spent doing the calculation as when I did them in University. I still could hear the voice of my maths teacher at school as I stumbled my way thro' calculus etc. -- "Your too careless Kinsley..." as I rushed to get an answer. There are lots of useful web sites as well giving free help on mathematical subjects. What a great age we live in ! Pity about misuse of drugs, terrorism, child abuse etc. Ah well, I'm on my way out but thanks Texas Instruments for making it interesting !Read full review
Powerful calculator for the price. Good Quality, Well Built. Can store programs. Very happy with the product - I had the same model as this for over 10 years - until it developed keyboard problems - I was so happy with the old calculator that I bought the exact same model again.
