Two CD's, first with non theme tunes tracks. Second Cd has all the classic Film themes. London Marathon theme music "The Trap" also included. It takes me back 50 years when I went to see the films

Ron Goodwin: Two Sides Of Ron Goodwin
Great singles sides from the 1950's and 1960's including the exciting "Swinging Sweethearts" and a whole host of songs written for the movies. While many of the melodies are unfamilair, they reach out and grab you and you find yourself grabbing the CD jewel box to see what song it is. Goodwin had a masterful way of using a string orchestra and put his own particular stamp on that sound. This double CD album features many of Ron Goodwins 'Hit' tunes,from early single releases and short melodies used as tv programme themes,to film scores from some of the best war movies from the 1960's. 633 squadron, colonel bogie/bridge over the riverkwai. where eagles dare operation crossbow and the battle of britain. All rousing distinctive tunes There are more familiar tunes like miss marple's theme and elizabethan seranade. The best thing about this album is Ron's orchestration of his music. Many examples of Ron's music have been recorded by other bands and to be honest the results are not a patch on the original. some of the tracks on this Cd are original mono recordings,I don't think remastering in to stereo would enhance their sound quality. If music is food for the soul this ...
