Always wanted to own the entire series. Brings back memories of my childhood spent between old wooden bookshelves in a library. I own the entire series now and since it is compact, hard covered and excellent value for money, now I can share that with my children.

I brought this book as I have recently started to watch the cartoons and am told that they differ quite a lot to the books. I brought this one to start at the beginning. At first I was a little put off by the first adventure, as of course this is the beginning, Tintin didn't look like the strapping young boy we see today, but what is interesting is that because Herge took a year or so to write this adventure, his drawing style for Tintin changed through out the book, and it is almost like he is evolving to the Tintin we are all used to seeing, which is quite charming. The second adventure in this book, "Tintin in the Congo" is known for being racist. Well, I wouldn't read this out in public because of the way the people of the Congo are drawn, however I don't see too much of a problem. I see where people may think it is racist, even Herge himself was not so happy with the final story.Read full review
