The Blair witch project released in 1998 was considered to be real at the time because of the production with how they advertised it and because of how real it seemed and today it is still the most shocking found footage film to date why, well the films is a documentary based on folk lore of the Blair witch and its whole truth and fiction. That blends well together no matter how many times you watch this film it delivers, on the acting, on the suspense, and on the score and what a score its so dark foreboding and mysterious in a old school fashion. Many haters will hate the Blair witch because we never see any witch but that's the selling point we see nothing which makes our minds more deep into the legend and its scary and that's coming from me who has seen load of weird and intense movies and nothing has topped this classic yet. I recommend people to buy this film and watch it in the dark with little lighting in their houses and it takes you into the experience which is even more intense with surround sound speakers.Read full review

Several years ago, I watched "The Blair Witch Project" and it absolutely terrified me. Now that I'm a little bit older, I recently got this film out of my local video shop to see if it still had the same effect on me and sure enough it still scared the hell out of me. A lot of people think this film is rubbish because it was all filmed on video cameras and they tend to be a bit shaky in some parts. I however, think that this film is has a very original concept and that's what makes it scary. It starts off like any other film with three students excited to be doing a project about the Blair Witch. They do it in a documentary style way and interview the locals that live in Burkittsville, Maryland. However, as soon as they enter the woods things start to take a turn and the three students end up becoming lost and frightened as there are creepy goings on outside their tent at night. Even though the story about them being missing isn't true (they're all actors) its still a great story and I loved the fact that it left me feeling genuinely terrified afterwards. But if you're the type of person that has no imagination whatsoever then maybe you should'nt watch this film. If you love feeling scared, you should definitely watch this film.Read full review
The Blair With Project is one of those rare horror movies that is still scary and creeps you out, but has none of this hacking off people's limbs that you see in Saw and Hostel. That stuff isn't even scary to me! I watched The Blair Witch Project on Film 4, and the way it created something of this calibur with a tiny budget is amazing. The plot isn't true, yet pulls and draws you in in the way it is amateurly done, with just a video camera and three students. Throughout the movie, you see voodoo dolls and scarecrows made of sticks, piles of rocks placed in strange places and bundles of stick, one containing organs and body parts of their missing friend, Josh. The ending of the movie is amazing, and leaves you guessing what happened to them all. I still thought of the movie a couple of days after I watched it, and it creeped me out in the daytime. It didn't help we were going to a wood to pick up sticks for our log fire the next day! I suppose The Blair Witch is like Marmite, some people, like me love it, but others think it is a lame, low-budget film that isn't remotely scary. I believe in the paranormal, so the thing that scares me when I watch this is that this is more likely to happen, in my opinion, than something where a pyscho kidnaps you and cuts your limbs off. Howver, in this day and age, I suppose that's possible too.Read full review
Three students go into the woods to film a documentary about the Blair Witch in Burkitsville, Maryland. That's it. No plots or twists in the story to distract you from waiting to meet the evil force. You learn little about the three students as the star of this movie is the shadows and darkness in the witches wood. The tension builds gradually. 'You have to keep telling yourself that it is only a movie'. This reality is created by the shaky home movie style camera work that a student movie would have. One of the most memorable scenes shows the actress producing real snot while snivelling into camera! In the scariest parts of the movie, you do wonder how the students manage to keep filming. Putting this to one side, you will find this movie will give you the chill you are looking for
The Blair Witch Project was released in 1999 and had everyone talking about it due to the promotional hype. Was it real or was it just a movie? For those that don't know, The Blair Witch project is about 3 students who, in 1994 set out to film a documentary about the legend of the Blair Witch. They start off in Burketsville interviewing tows people then make their way to the Black Hills woods. There intentions are to camp out there for a few nights and visit certain locations. Soon after they are declared missing and are never seen again. Their footage was found years later. The movie is kind of a mixed bag. While the shaky cameras can get annoying at times and there's no real 'action', there's a definite tension that builds as the movie progresses and some genuinely creepy moments. The Blair Witch tends to be love it or hate it but if you watch it with an open mind you'll enjoy it.Read full review
