John Connolly was recommended as an author of interest but I abstained from reading his Charlie Parker series having rarely enjoyed crime-based fiction, even if it does lean towards the supernatural. I chose 'The Book of Lost Things' instead and am glad I did. Although it is a coming-of-age tale, it is written in a way that will make most adults feel, chuckle and relate to many aspects, while sweeping you along in the process. A wonderfully lyrical story set amidst a fairy tale world and the real one, it gives a very real insight into some of the (sometimes harsh) realities life can throw at you.

Very different book to what I usually read, didn't know if I'd get into it but I have and look forward to reading it. It's very clever.
