I'm a huge fan of Wes Anderson, and a large part of experiencing his work is the accompanying soundtrack. Up until Darjeeling, though, I've had most of the music he used. Darjeeling culls its soundtrack from the usual classic pop/rock sources, but even moreso from the scores of the Indian films of James Ivory and Ramjit Singh. And THAT'S finally what made me buy my first Anderson soundtrack. If you've seen the movie, you know the soundtrack is enchanting and practically flawless. The CD presents it basically in order from the movie, starting with the track from the short 'Hotel Chevalier' and ending with 'Champs Elysees' from the closing credits. The blend of English rock, French pop, and Indian-based score would probably be jarring if this were just a mix tape, but in the context of this soundtrack it's utterly evocative. The packaging is as lovely and considered as Anderson's films, with some closeup stills of props we see in the film for only seconds...and a fun surprise under the disc in the tray insert.Read full review

This is a fantastic soundtrack that when you have watched the movie, brings tears to your eyes. All the songs are unusual classics that fit perfectly with the genre of the film. Even if you havent seen the film, i would highly recommend this soundtrack as is is a mixture of all types of music that would suit all ages. Buy and Enjoy.xx
Having seen the film I was inspired to buy the sound track. I would recommend it, plenty of tracks that take you back to the film and that wonderful vibe you get. Great car music - if you're a little 'off the wall'.
