The book gives as much of an insight into the mentality of King James 1st, as it does into anything associated with witchcraft etc. Its well worth ploughing through, for that reason, but it is an exceedingly difficult read. Although the spellings and some of the grammar has been modernised, much of the phraseology is ancient, and hard to comprehend, meaning that passages have to be read and re-read several time to make sense. James 1st seems in a lot of places to be using Demonology and Witchcraft as a prop to support his own moral inadequacy and as a boost for his ego!
