I've got this on video, i haven't watched it in ages, very funny in parts, Micheal J. Fox is at his very best acting wise, not very Frightening, more funny.

I bought this DVD for two reasons - it received a good review from the Radio Times Film Guide and it was directed by Peter Jackson with special effects by Weta (both Lord of the Rings). Michael J. Fox plays a psychic investigator who is able to see and interact with ghosts. He uses this talent mainly to swindle cash out of gullible clients. but when he discovers there is a serial killer in his small New Zealand town , he must use his talents in an effort to halt the killings. More a horror film with comedy moments, the story moves at a cracking pace , the special effects are brilliant and the acting and dialogue is first rate. Highly recommended.
Although this film did not receive major praise when released, this peter jackson film is certainly full of exciting moments. Michael J Fox gives a fantastic performance as Frank Bannister, a psychic who uses his two ghost pals to help him scam cash out of customers. Frank then gets involved in a disturbing array of events involving the evil spirit of an executed serial killer. The story is original with some unexpected twists and turns. Top Notch film backed by an amazing cast. A must see for any thriller fan. 10/10
The picture's horror/thriller elements come with a Grim Reaper going after the murder victims, and the mysterious car accident that killed Bannister's wife some 15 years earlier and left him a broken man (not to mention the red-herrings that pop up). Whatever shortcomings the story might have are made up for with the movie's characters and direction; Fox is earnest and likable as Bannister The CGI effects still look fairly good for a 10-year-old movie with a middling budget, and Jackson manages to serve up a fairly good scare or two.
Very good film. Takes the best aspects of reality and the "other world". Comic and horrific (mildly). Recommended - no problem.
