The Game is one of my all time favorite movies. It seems at first to be dark and depressing and becomes a thriller about the lonely Millionaire Nicholas Van Orton who has everything money can buy yet is deeply unhappy and unimpressed with life, having only superficial human connections. I won't spoil the ending if you have not seen it, (IMDB.com can do that for you). Nicholas is given the ultimate gift - (what do you buy for the man who has everything?) by his brother which literally changes his life. At the end you realize it's actually a feel-good movie, and it's one I wish I could go back and watch again for the first time. I hope you enjoy it too.
I first watched 'The Game' at the cinema back in the late 90s and found it dark and interesting. Without spoiling the storyline for anyone the ending is a surprise and it leaves you pondering on how and why? The story follows a successful businessman (Michael Douglas), obviously affected by the suicide death of his father that he witnessed when he was just a boy. One day his wayward younger brother contacts him (Sean Penn) and gives him an unusual present. The rest of the movie sees Nicholas Van Orton (Michael Douglas) go on a soul-searching journey full of suspense and danger that leaves him questioning his own existence and makes him search deep into his soul.
