Not intended as the definitive work on the subject, but a very nice taster of what those who categorise things would call "folk art". Excellent reproductions with short well observed text of what-certainly when I was a boy, was all around us. A nice book to have and a reminder of the quality and simplicity of life in a bygone age. Taken on board at the time but how we wish we had all collected them then, and cashed in now.Not intended as the definitive work on the subject, but a very nice taster of what those who categorise things would call "folk art". Disappointment
I bought this book for a birthday present for this Saturday, when I opened the package I found the bottom of the spine had been crushed, it is very disappointing. The book content is great, don't know what to do now, can't give a damaged item for a birthday present!

Effectively conjures up images of a golden age that, unfortunately, never really existed; while the posters are beyond doubt from a golden age of railway posters, the times itself were pretty difficult for all except the rich, so not really a golden age for people. But that does not really matter here - I really enjoyed the book and getting lost in daydreams about what it might have been like in this fantasy world. Good quality reproductions and succinct text makes it an excellent read.Effectively conjures up images of a golden age that, unfortunately, never really existed; while the posters are beyond doubt from a golden age of railway posters, the times itself were pretty difficult for all except the rich, so not really a golden age for people.
