The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien hardback book.
Published by George Allen and Unwin in 1971, this is a third edition and 6th impression.
The book itself is in good condition. It is housed in its original dust jacket which has been price clipped and as can be seen in the photos, there is quite a lot of wear to the back of the dust jacket and to the spine part with tears and some loss. That having been said, the majority of the jacket remains and it is hard to find jackets in early copies of this book nowadays.
Internally, the book is also good. Apart from the presence of a neat gift inscription to the first free end paper, there are no other markings or inscriptions on the book. The pages are clean and fully legible albeit very slightly yellowed through age.
The green cloth boards are also good with some small areas of fading and marking but this isn't seen when the jacket is on the book.
It contains black and white illustrations as well as tipped in colour pictures (1 of which can be seen in the photos) It also has the usual maps of Wilderland at the back and front of the book.
A great copy for any Tolkien fan or collector alike despite the minor flaws.
International buyers welcome.
Please feel free to check out the other Tolkien books I have listed. I am happy to combine postage costs if more than one book is purchased in order to keep costs down for buyers.
