The book is a collection of pamphlets, adverts and other Government documents available to the public between 1940 and 1942. In 160 pages it covers Rationing, Evacuation, Conscription, Air Raids, Radio and Cinema, Work and Invasion. It gives the flavour of what the government expected of its people during WWII. The author also provides background notes, references and an index. It must have been a dreadfully uncertain time, and these publications were an attempt to keep people informed and help morale. There was even a Regulation to require queues to be formed at bus tram and trolleybus stops if there was more than six people waiting. This Regulation wasn't rescinded until late 1948, and people still queue today. An interesting read and another dimension on a critical period of British history.Read full review
