Glad to get this. Read it many years ago, and have always wanted to read it again. Bill Bryson's childhood in Des Moines seemed very varied, mixed with a good deal of inquisitiveness, and naivety. That made for very entertaining reading, and his descriptions of his childhood along with sharp memories are excellent. Even then, his mind was enquiring! We also learn about his family and friends, and right at the back of the book, he brings us up to date as far as he can about them! For fans of Bill Bryson, this is highly recommended!

An amusing description of Bill Bryson's life as a child in Des Moines in the fifties. A great insight into North American culture with Bill's slant on it.

Great book, and if you are over 50 then you will recognise the truth in some of the stories and experiences. Very funny.
