Good for the over 5's and above, bit scary for younger children.
I had never seen this film before but got it as my nieces are very into mermaids. We all watched it together with the older one explaining the plot as it went on. Quite dark in places but we all survived. Good plot with lots of songs and of course the usual Disney happy ending. Good to watch with young children but some scary scenes so you may want to distract them or tell them it's ok so as not to upset them. THE LITTLE MERMAID
I decided to buy this because I only have it on video and my daughter wanted it on dvd. This movie came out in 2000 when she was only 2 years of age. She is now 10 and still loves it. I think that speaks for itself. If you dont already know, its about a mermaid called Ariel who lives under the sea with her father, King Triton, and her sisters. She falls in love with a mortal ( very frowned upon) so she keeps it a secret. Ursula, the sea witch and nemesis of the King, finds out about Ariels infatuation and makes a deal with her. She trades Ariels voice for giving her real girl legs, but she has to get Eric to kiss her by sunset. If not, Ursula has her soul as her prisoner for eternity. A must for all disney fans of all ages, worth the money.
I bought this DVD for my neice but as she's too young to watch it yet my nephew loves it. As do I. But as I don't want to part with any of my Disney DVD's I'm having to look elsewhere for them. The Little Mermaid is my favourite Disney DVD, as I have watched the film on Video till there was no picture left! Considering this story is originally Hans Christian Anderson, I think Disney has done an excellent job in keeping to much of the original story. A must for Disney fans of all ages.I bought this DVD for my neice but as she's too young to watch it yet my nephew loves it. As do I.
