Oxford University Press publications are always reliable reference books - very much to be be proud of. I have a previous edition - and found myself sharing it with my granddaughter. At 11 she needed her OWN copy - something which she will use for the rest of her life. Predictably comprehenive and overall more user friendly than searching on line. You find yourself browsing the volume for the shere joy of the written word - and boring all and sundry with your favourite quotes. I have always found the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations easy to use - but is that through regular use I wonder? I have not tried any other Dictionary of Quotations - I have the best already. Maybe this is a book to take to ones Desert Island, together with Chambers Dictionary (sorry OUP) and my ancient copy of Collins English Gem Dictionary which I have constantly to hand.Read full review
