This is a tough book to get through, but in the end is highly rewarding. There are portions of it that seem unrelated to the purported subject matter, but it all ties together in the end. My one regret is that it is a segmented, journalistic approach, as opposed to an in-depth dismantling of industry crutches like the DSM (Diagnositc and Statistical Manaul, Text Revision IV). Whether or not you're a fan of the CCHR (Citizens Commission on Human Rights, a.k.a. The Church of Scientology), this book would have been the perfect forum in which to debunk what has been conclusively proven to be little more than pseudo-scientific guesswork, affecting the lives of millions of unsuspecting victims of psychiatry and psychology and their families. That being said, and in an attempt to sound less 'enthusiastic' about it, I would hazard to state that anyone, anywhere that had or has issues with institutionalized 'mental heath' providers and their virtual enslavement to drug companies pushing remedies for everything from ADHD to Generalized Anxiety Disorder), must and should read this book. Ronson, himself a victim of several neurosis, is a stylist of the highest order.Read full review
An amazing read for anyone interested in this subject. Funny and thought provoking at the same time. You may not look at people the same way after reading this book 🙂
