More than 10 years after "A Shot in the Dark" Peter Sellers returned as Jacques Clouseau in Return of the Pink Panther from 1975. This British movie was made by the production company ITC of Lew Grade. It is a true classic shot in beautiful locations. When the world famous Pink Panther diamond is stolen from a heavily guarded museum in Lugash, they call in Jacques Clouseau to find the thief. Clouseau suspects the Phantom, alias of Sir Charles Lytton, and leaves for France to find Lytton, to prove his guilt and arrest him. In the most hilarious disguises he invades Lyttons home, destroys cars, phones, doorbells and pieces of art while trying to find evidence against Lytton. The movie is of course directed by Blake Edwards who also co-wrote the screenplay and has the famous music by Henry Mancini (Hatari, Charade). With regular cast members Herbert Lom (as Dreyfuss), Burt Kwouk (as Cato) and guest stars Catherine Schell (from tv series Space:1999) and Christopher Plummer. The movie runs about 113 minutes and is over before you know it because of the excellent script, marvellous acting by Sellers and the very funny scenes. The 3rd Pink Panther movie was a box office smash and within a few years two follow up movies were shot until the death of Peter Sellers made a sixth movie impossible.Read full review
Another outing for the Blake Edwards crew. Now looking a little less classic beside 'A Shot in the Dark' and 'The Pink Panther Strikes Again'. Clearly, there are some brilliant Peter Seller's moments and so worth having every time.
