I was in secondary school when this was made :) talk about an inspiring film, and was true as well! It showed what it was like to be British; an Oxford chap decides to go sailing around the Frisian Islands and happened upon a diabolical scheme. His pal joins him and the scene for a cat and mouse adventure. Determined young men with one goal, to stop the might of the German army. The score is haunting too, it reminds me of those carefree days of youth where one would nip into an apple orchard and steal (aquire) a few apples. If you haven't seen it yet you are in for a real treat, no CGI in this one and thank god for it, just experienced actors doing a fantastic job, as it should be. Well worth the time to sit back, relax and get ready for a most entertaining film.

A classic British film that does the original novel proud. Lots of nautical feel and intrigue. The unlikely pairing of the two lead characters adds gentle humor. Geographically correct And entirely credible content (as could be expected by author Irskine Chillders when you check his background) Well cast and filmed, all done in a gentlemanly English way. A nice Sunday afternoon film.
I found it a wonderful novel by Erskine Childers . Sadly I play it on my PC and the picture was small. not full size, which is annoying. However good actors, and I did enjoy the film.
