the greatest rock n roll band in the world = the greatest live album. The Rolling Stones at their finest with a brilliant version of The Midnight Rambler.
Live albums recorded at this period in popular music's(then)relatively short history were usually hit and miss affairs. The Stones had already dived into the medium with 'Got Live If You want It' - where it never worked.. This album really does work, and even the better part of 40 years on, captures the Rolling Stones at their late 60's best. Recorded live at Madison Square Gardens on the 27th & 28th November 1969, this album does deliver... Mick Taylor having recently taken over from Brian Jones.. The album contains as you would expect the hits - Jumpin' Jack Flash' and 'Honky Tonk Woman', but also a fantastically eclectic mix of new and old. From rampoaging versions of Chuck Berry's 'Little Queenie' and 'Carol', through great renditions of 'Sympathy For The Devil', 'Street Fighting Man', Midnight Rambler' and 'Love In Vein'... A great way for the Stones to leave the 60's. Worth a purchase.++++++++Read full review
