Note. There is what seems at first to be a printing fault - the page number and corner descriptions seem to be cut off, possibly during the printing (see picture). At first i thought it may have been just my copy, but upon research it seems to affect most if not all !. It has been suggested that this may have been done deliberatly by the designers and i suggest reading the reviews on the US Amazon site for more info.  However to me, it is a small issue which i felt worth mentioning. It doesn't destract from the sheer beauty of this book!

Fully Guaranteed

Profusely illustrated in color and b&w. "Uncredited." examines how opening sequences in films - classic and contemporary - act as hooks to draw the viewer into the film, showing frame by frame how graphics, type and animation are used to create atmosphere, set tone, and lend impact to movies. Its chapters include "Casting Titles on to Film", "Titles as Logos", "Textures", "Concepts", as well as sections focusing on specific title designers such as Maurice Binder (who was responsible for the brand image for every 007 film since 1962), Saul Bass, Jean-Luc Godard, John Lasseter + Pixar, John Whitney, Stan Brakhage, Stephen O. Frankfurt, Balsmeyer + Everett, Geoff McFetridge, and many, many more. Also included is an examination of the technological advancements in filmmaking that have allowed designers to direct credits as an aide, an advertisement, or as a sort of short abstract film within a film. From Hitchcock and Godard to Tarantino, Luc Besson, and Tim Burton, this large format coffee table book finally illuminates this critical role designers play in filmmaking and gives credit to those, that often go uncredited". A most handsome copy of this massive survey including the publisher's accompanying DVD, as issued.
