TomTom XXL is a great navi device. Its major feature is big screen, and solid build. Its a solid peace of plastic, there is only one input/output usb socket. It lacks flash card support, you wont be able to extend its memory, - its huge disadvantage. Maps are getting bigger and in more detail, that requires lots of memory. Its good that tomtom supports region maps, so they dont take so much. Maps dont have buildings! - another disadvantage!, common TomTom, iGO maps has more detail on this side, and to have building less maps you even have to pay. As for device it works like a charm, fast and reliable.
I bought this product simply for the fact that my original one that is about 9 years old is in storage along with 75% of the rest of my house at present.i just couldn't be bothered to empty a 20 ft container to find it ! knowing the brand i thought as us male geniuses do " i will buy another to tie me over" , well ,i could not be happier. It is slimmer than my original one , a wider screen, quicker to find addresses and connect to satellites. There appears to be more features as standard too compared to my first system but then we must remember that even though i forget to move on technology doe's. I have been until recently a international truck driver for some 27 years and have had cause at times to use other brands and systems which i am afraid to say they are some what lacking in essential area's like for example, Display/connection speed/build quality and standard features etc. Please remember that this is purely my personal opinion through use of over 1 million road miles, and my comments are not intended to offend. I can highly recommend this product for all the right reasons and have no issue with writing this review, in fact i feel privileged to be given the opportunity to do so .Read full review
Okay if you want a cheap and cheerful older model with 2017 maps. This model is no longer supported by Tom Tom so future updated maps could be an issue. Sod as "totally refurbished" but apparently does not include a replacement battery, Mine has only a few minutes of battery life. Would have scored higher rating if new battery fitted.

The best thing about TomTom is the voice directions are clear and accurate. Some i have used leave it very late to direct you, just when you really dont need it.The screen size makes it very easy to get a view of where you are heading with just a quick glance, although if you position it correctly you can see it out of the corner of your eye quite clearly. Sun on the screen is also not so much of a problem, as some I have used tend to disappear. For my personal use I do feel that I can trust TomTom's, which makes driving in unknown territory more relaxed.
Didnt like sat navs previous to this having experienced some of the much earlier versions. This however is a very different thing all together.I have just used it to travel down through France and into Northern Spain.it did get confused around Hendaye when i asked it for a non -motorway route to Bilbao but that was really the only time i had any trouble with it. Brilliant for finding hotels and fuel stations although some info is out of date but i suppose that is inevitable given the amount of data these things receive.
