Successful gardening depends on good topsoil.

Topsoil is the essential basic material for all landscaping restoration and garden projects. It is a complex mixture oforganic and inorganic substances together with air, water and micro-organisms.

Organic matter or humus includes substances of both vegetable and animal origin, together with living micro-organisms. It has a major effect on the fertility of soil. Humus attracts earthworms which aerate and mix the soil which improves fertility, texture and structure.

Inorganic matter consists of three classes of mineral particle, the proportions of which determine the basic nature of the soil:

At Woodland we are able to calculate the appropriate amounts of material needed for varying projects.


New build homes:

Apply to 20cms depth for construction of new flower or vegetable beds. 
Lawns – apply to a depth of 10 cms.


Creating or raising flower beds:

Addition of Woodland Topsoil provides additional nutrients and a rich source of fresh organic matter which will rejuvenate “tired” soil and restore its structure.

Creating or leveling lawns:

Spread Woodland Topsoil over the area, level and firm prior to seeding or laying turf. Correct low areas on an existing lawn by making two cuts in the surface at 90 degrees and peeling back the turf. Apply soil until required level is achieved then replace turf and water thoroughly.

Installing rockeries

Use as a foundation material as rockery is built, then apply more soil between stones as they are laid.
Delivery will be made using a Tail-lift lorry which will need to be off loaded on a hard standing i.e. not grass or gravel. Please let us have your telephone number when ordering just in case we can't find your address.  Delivery is normally a kerb-side delivery, although every effort will be made to place to bulk bag where you require it.
