Definitely playable, despite what you'd expect. The drums sound good - the single-head toms are easy to tune and have a surprisingly good tone. The snare drum sounds pretty decent - not a big, warm sound, but definitely sounds like a snare. Biggest problem is the kick - I'm still working on getting that to sound decent. I dropped a half dozen of those air-filled packing bags into it to help mute the heads. It needs to sound lower without being floppy, which is difficult for a drum this size. Expect to come up with creative ideas to achieve decent kick tone. I also replaced some hardware out of the gate with Gibraltar clamps, like the snare extension setup - I was very worried that the plastic mount would break, probably on the way to a gig. It's a little heavier with my mods, but much sturdier.Read full review

You be very happy with it’s sound and versatility! To enhance my setup I added a 2 foot section of rack tubing to the right side to bring the largest Tom out a bit further.. Also adding a kick drum microphone was beneficial..
