I took a punt on buying this and I am glad I did. I always wanted to find out more about Vespasian since I went to Rome and saw the Colesseum a few years ago. The book starts with a young Vespasian and pretty much covers his first campaign. We are introduced to several charracters that are both real and fictional and is nice to see how the author has brought these to life. I would say that the last part of the book lost its way a little, with the feeling that the author making a bit of a hash of a pat in the book where the main protagonists find themselves stuck behind enemy lines, but other than that, I was entertained and will definately be buying the next in the series. The author has the potential to be a decent one and I cant wait to read number 2.
As good as Simon Scarrow, action packed, it is fiction Vespasian's young life and it is fiction tongue in cheek?,
