Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best-selling in Sound Cards (External)
I bought this for a specific purpose - I have a device with a stereo digital optical output and I wanted to transfer the signal to my computer via USB. The software was easy to load and the sound card performs this function very well. I have not used any other inputs/features (e.g. 5.1 surround sound) but, for what I wanted, it has been a very economic solution.

Firstly, the seller is/was excellent as my first one was replace free of charge without even returning it. Five stars to the seller. Now the item. I purchased this item mainly for the optical INPUT so I can transfer 'Minidiscs’ to my computer by optical/digital means. As mentioned above, the first unit had to be replaced. All functions worked except the optical input, which was either silent or had a heavily distorted sound if I held the optical lead up to it rather than plugging the optical lead in. I tried different leads and different settings but no use. The seller sent me a new replacement and didn’t even ask for the old one back. Excellent service. The replacement worked ‘ok’, but the limitation is in the software which is quite difficult to use. It looks simple, but does not quite do what it says. It does do what I wanted and that was to transfer my audio via optical cable to the computer, but it is limited in the bitrate/sample rate. I can only use 44.1khz and even though 48khz is listed it will not accept it. I briefly used the unit on a Raspberry Pi for audio output. This works but every so often it will output an extremely loud ‘computer type’ noise instead of playing the audio track. This could cause damage to speakers connected to it and could certainly damage hearing when using headphones. It does this randomly. I don’t know if this is something to do with the Raspberry Pi or the unit itself, but I cannot trust it to work with the Raspberry Pi so won’t be using it for that. The other inputs/outputs, surround sound channel outputs etc. I cannot comment on as I have not used these. For what I got it for it works fine. Analogue audio quality is good enough, digital transfer is perfect as it should be with digital. If you don’t need the optical side of things then there are plenty of cheaper USB audio adapters around. In my case, it was worth it for the optical input as there are not many devices that have this and certainly not for this price.Read full review

I bought this one as I didn't want something too cheap but not too expensive also. I wanted to do broadcast on a internet radio so I'm just using the microphone and a headset. It's tricky because usually all sound cards have delay when using the mic and give you hard time trying to speak and listen to yourself with a 1 or 2 seconds delay. This sound card has a great output sound quality and minimum feedback delay! I highly recommend it.

I use one of these Audio adaptors to convert the audio out put of one of my PC's from analogue to digital and send into the digital (using an optical cable) input of my Hi Fi amp. The other Audio adaptor is used on another PC just as an analogue audio input instead of the " AUDIO INPUT JACK SOCKET " on the back of the PC which developed an intermittent contact. which is cheaper than a repair and a lot more convenient than getting to the back of the PC connector panel
