Ulrich Schnauss is quite prolific. He has somewhere in the region of 30 releases to his name, a mixture of full albums and EPs. He also appears on about 20 Tangerine Dream releases since he joined the band in 2014. You could buy any random selection of his work and the sound and quality of the work would be pretty much the same as any other random selection. His stuff isn't quite up to the standard of, say, Pete Namlook and Klaus Schulze's "Dark Side of the Moog" series but it is still strong enough to receive a strong 4 or 5/5 on any release. This, is strongly reminiscent of Tangerine Dream's early albums, or even Edgar Froese's solo work, than some of the T.D.'s dodgy middle period where they seemed to throw out a new album every month just by turning on the sequencers and tape machine, going to the pub and releasing whatever had been recorded by the time they got back.Read full review

Once again, Schnauss creates irresistibly buoyant and celebratory tracks that put lackluster efforts by other “warm electronica” artists to shame. “Gone Forever” is an gorgeous opener as it escalates through numerous heavenly episodes of tension and release. Schnauss uses a Spector-like “wall of sound” production style throughout which gives the recording a reverberant, anthemic quality. “Gone Forever,” “Monday-Paracetamol,” and “Blumenthal,” all of which begin unassumingly but gradually build to euphoric, sparkling heights, bolstered by massive beats and shimmering synths. Each track flows from beginning to end and doesn't get caught up in the endlessly repetitive rut that some electronic music finds itself in. Schnauss' compositions are incredibly rich without sounding overly busy or cluttered. At no point do you feel overwhelmed by layer upon layer of sound, which is another trapping of the electronic scene. An essential album for Schnauss fans and a great starting album for anyone new to Ulrich Schnauss.Read full review
