I bought this book when looking for another I'd seen advertised and I'm very pleased I did. I'd already recovered from a terrible bout of depression when I saw the book but I'm all for educating myself to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, and more importantly of becoming depressed again. This book did two things for me. It educated me in a way I could understand, and it also confirmed my own beliefs about recovery from depression because I'd actually already used many of them. Particularly exercise, meditation, mindfulness to a degree, looking after yourself, talking about your fears and how you feel, and the support of others including a good therapist if you can access one. I recovered without medication because I was afraid of it but I realise now that maybe there was a small part for it to play. Not all of the book will be relevant to you because it covers a broad spectrum but it is the most informative book I've read and I would recommend it to anyone who is suffering or recovering from depression, as well as anyone supporting sufferers of this terrible illness. Use it as a resource along with any others you may have and make some informed decisions about your recovery, or staying well. A very worthwhile read with practical suggestions that can work very well.Read full review
