This was my first guitar amp back in the 1980s. I learned to play on it with a number of terrible guitars. I chose it over a budget Fender amp primarily due to the chorus. I used a few pedals with it here and there, but eventually got into multi effects units and tube preamps played through clean stereo amplifiers and away from guitar amplifiers altogether. For the past few years, I've started acquiring more classic amps, mostly solid state one from Lab Series, GK, and Fender. I pulled this one off the shelf to see how it compared. I had to repair the Jensen 6" speakers as the foam surrounds had long ago rotted away, but I am really impressed at how much I like this amp now. The chorus effect holds up and is still really good even on an amp of this size. What I like about it is that it's not a completely clean chorus... there's a touch of dirt to it that gives the sound some life and zing. What really impresses me about it now is how good the distortion is for a solid state amp. It's far more flexible and lively than I remember it being. What's really important is that it got me excited again to mess around and be creative, avoiding anything I normally play to instead focus on writing. Sometimes that's easier when you strip things back down to the basics. This doesn't have enough power for any performance beyond your living room, but it's perfect for practice and messing around. Again, this is a simple amp. A master volume for the clean channel, chorus and distortion buttons, 2 knobs to shape the distortion (in the pre- and post- sections), a 3 band EQ, and a chorus speed knob. The only thing I wish it had was an effects loop, but not that's not necessary for an amp of this size. No, it's not as sexy as a Fender Champ or as versatile as anything by Line 6, but it's a fun little amp that's far better than I remembered it being. If you find one for under $100, it's worth checking out.Read full review

Don't let the little size cabinet fool you. Great little amp that is built extremely rugged. Sounds good too. No thrills, bells, whistles or gimmicks.Designed for grab and go & practice without the back strain. The 18v battery pack is a great plus! Too bad the option to buy it is no longer available, though can be rewired with a different jack to run on 12v...see youtube. I have 2 and love em'. Connect your pedals & rock on!

I bought this for the nostalgia. This was my first amp back in the day. Fun to jam on, just straight up sound. No effects or reverb.
