I have had a Weller Universal Soldering Gun for as long as I can remember and I was still using the original tip until now. These replacement tips are first class and constructed from solid materials. I have yet to use the soldering gun, but feel that these tips will retain the heat very well and will complete any task given. I will update my assessment of these tips after I have used the soldering gun on my next project.

I've been into electronics since the early 70's- and for heavier work, use the Weller Soldering Gun. They are great tools if used correctly, but if only they made a finer and longer lasting tip! I have to 'thin the sides of mine down', as they are much too broad to do the job that I use them for with my bench grinder. However- these tips have a built in weak spot, on the bottom front that slowly melts away, causing them bit to break away and go 'open circuit' making it no longer useable. I've found that this fault DOESN'T exist on the less expensive, smaller Chinese made guns- but you do not get the build quality, & cannot seem to buy new bits- which seems such a waste of the actual gun. So come on Weller, get your act together- I use my gun as its intended, intermittantly- but this very annoying fault with the tips just won't go away. Over the past 12 months, Ive gone through NINE tips. . & this is nothing at all to do with me thinning the sides down, so they are more suitable for the job- they were doing exactly the same, when left untouched! All in all, a great tool- spoilt by poor bits, that are much too wide for a great many jobs. Read full review

Nice to be able to buy just the tip and not the whole item quality is the same as the original so therefore perfect for the job

My Weller soldering gun dates back to the 1970's and is still going strong. I needed some replacement tips, and I was not sure these were going to fit an 8200D. In this instance I simply removed the securing nuts from the old tip, placed the nuts over the new tips and fold the ends of the legs 90 degs. insert the ends through the holes and tighten the back nuts. They are copper cored, with a silver coating so the are pliable and easily tinned ready for work.

Well, they are really good quality but my experience with them, I have to chalk up to my stupidity. My Solder gun is 'NOT' a Weller, it's a cheepie and I had dropped it and broke a braze on the tip, so I tried to get a replacement which is when I found these. Now bear in mind, although these fitted my gun and worked for a short while, they were not the correct ones. Too much power was being 'Shunted' in the gun, a 'Wisp' of smoke appeared from inside the gun, which led to it's demise. Now I have two tips and no gun, either way, my 'Shortcut' means I still can't solder, mybad I guess....
