Wharfedale make excellent speakers and have been doing so for a long time. These arrived beautifully packed giving the impression that Wharfedale are rightly proud of their product. Mine are running from Alexa, via a simple amp and are mounted at ceiling height in the kitchen. The sound is powerful and punchy yet also refined and detailed. Front-facing bass ports make them unfussy as to how close to the rear wall they are, which in my case is ideal. Close your eyes and they sound like much larger speakers. And they look the business! Highly recommended.

I do enjoy my music, but I am no audiophile. I bought these speakers because they are highly regarded both by hifi magazines and owners alike. The speakers are superbly built with quality components, beautifully finished, the curved sides adding more elegance to the usual boxy design. They sound great too, with bags of detail, punchy bass, crystal clear mid range, and a bright top end. Playing some of my favourite tracks has surprised me how much sound detail I have missed. There is nothing to dislike and you will not be disappointed.
Bought to replace a 15 year old pair in cherry finish - walnut is much more aesthetically pleasing with the soft, warm sound of an amazing pair of speakers from a well proven and reliable brand. Cannot recommend highly enough 👍

There is a lot of high praise for these speakers and they won many awards in the hifi press a few years back. Similarly the same sort of praise is levelled at the almost exact same sized Tannoy Mercury M1. However, I think there is no better way to judge whether anything is as good as they say until you actually listen yourself. I decided I would try them both in comparison to each other and my very large Wharfedale Airedale SP monitors. The Airedales are massive beasts over a meter tall and half a meter square with a measured response from 28Hz to 22kHz and they sound spectacular. The first thing that is overwhelming obvious with small speakers is the lack of any deep bass response. Secondly and, in my view, more important is that both the Tannoy M1 and the Diamond 9.1 have a resonance from the enclosures at around 125Hz This is, to my ear, most annoying and distracting especially when listening to acoustic pieces. The Mercury boxes perform worst here, driving me almost to the point of despair at times. If you use a notch frequency filter/equaliser this can be filtered out but it’s a lot of trouble and the level of filtering needs to be tweaked for each different piece of music for best results. The 9.1 units are front ported whereas the Tannoys' port is in the rear. This makes room placement much easier with the Wharfedales. There is a distinct lack of lower bass from the Tannoys but the Wharfedale's have a little more 'oomph' so they do sound better here. The high end response is also different by orders of magnitude. The Tannoy M1's are sharper and clearer. The 9.1 are less pronounced and some detail is lost, however, they are much easier to listen to for long periods with no listening fatigue. In the end you pay your money and make your own choice. I can’t highly recommend either speaker because of the resonance problem but if I had to choose between the two, my money would go on the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1Read full review
Wharfedale is a name that's been familiar to hifi buyers for years but I've never owned that brand. Needing a smaller pair of speakers for a smaller place to replace a larger existing pair I scrolled all the hifi reviews of this product & despite being tempted by other manufacturers I couldn't resist buying these. I have to agree with all the previous positive reviews about these speakers, can't really fault them for quality or price. Will go well with a good 30 watt amp.

I am not a snob when it comes to listening to music. If it's got a good tune I will enjoy it while it's really loud rock music or alternative or classical opera all blues or jazz or pop. The speakers work with all that music and I've been listening to music for 47 years and I can tell you these are worth the money
