Who Goes there is a series of short stories by John W Campbell, The book title is the name of the first story about a lonely arctic station visited by a terrifying alien life form that assimilates its prey down to every fine detail, The book was written in 1934 and its other world ideas are untainted by modern works and come across as incredibly original if a little basic. The second story blindness, about a manned sun probe is incredibly visionary, describing moon habitation in the 1970s, the reader has to keep reminding ones self when this work was written. Worth a read for sci fi and space fans.
I bought this because I'm obsessed with the 1982 movie, The Thing, by John Carpenter. Great to finally read the source material and inspiration for one of the best films ever made. It's much more technically scientific than I was expecting, but I'm still really enjoying it. Highly recommended if you're a fan of Sci-Fi, body horror, and/or isolation thrillers.
