I purchased this product because it gives so much insight into Chinas past, the great difficulties they experienced and suppression suffered, both byt the Japanese and war lords of china. I do not have a dislike, but question, how the author acquired so much information, almost as though they had lived during the periods. Compars very well with other books on this subject.

This is an amazing book which narrates the lives of three generations of women in China, beginning in the early 20th century. Powerfully written; the sort of book it is difficult to put down. A compelling read. The book is banned in China, unsurprisingly, because it makes for horrific reading as it describes the consequences on the population of Mao's "Great Leap Forward," & then the "Cultural Revolution." I was lent the book by a friend some time ago & wanted to read it again. There is nothing to dislike about "Wild Swans," - it is historical fact written in easy to read prose. It is unique - & has been described as a masterpiece.
