This is the first book I have ever read by Travis Elborough and it will certainly be the last. I can only recommend it as a bedtime book for insomniacs. It it very heavy going with overly long, complicated sentences which sometimes cover six lines. He seems set on trying to impress you with his knowledge of obscure books, films etc, which gets very tedious. He is clearly an Academic, and has a very turgid style. The book fails to inspire and rambles around the subject without really saying anything very much of interest. One to avoid and definitely NOT "The Perfect Beach Book" as Marie Claire say in the promo quote on the back cover. They clearly didn't read it!
Great overview of coastal life & a fascinating reference look at life at the seaside.
