This wide-ranging history provides the answers to all these fascinating questions as well as providing many fascinating insights into the Ancient World. AUTHOR: Herodotus (c.484 BC-c.420 BC) is often called the Father of History and is the earliest, and one of the greatest of the ancient Greek prose writers. In most instances, his account is the only substantial one that survives of many key historical events.

Dipped in to huge tome and found it engrossing. Historian admitting to not knowing for certain and entertaining in his stories. Interesting as a beginning of historical referring to sources and questioning them. I'll keep going with this adventure in historical writing.
