My last one recently gave up the ghost after 6 years out in all weathers, used on a daily basis to lock up my bike. I live in London, bike theft capitol, and still have my bike which is also 6 years old. When I had to retire the old lock which had worn out and getting difficult to open with a key, I opted for a couple of other locks, but I don't like ones that you can't take out the key while it's open. It'd be good if sellers mentioned that detail, I might have saved myself a few bob. Fumbling with a chain and a padlock with a bunch of keys attached is a pain, so in the end I got another YALI12150 50mm. The other one did me proud for 6 years, when the new one I bought wears out, I'll get another. Good reliable chunky padlock, formidable looking enough to deter bike thieves I've found.

A great product from Yale. Advertised as having a 9mm shank on E bay. It's not 9mm as it says on the packaging its 9.53mm. I knew a 9mm shank would be right for my hasp. This shank is too big. I cannot drill the hasp out (and therefore weaken it)The insurance told me that. So got the lock and its no use to me. Moral of the story?. Get the specs right. If its 9mm write 9mm,If its 9.53mm write 9.53. Its not hard.

bought this for my back garden gate while i was away its very strong and robust think it would be quite hard to break unless a thief used a large pair of bolt croppers. i would say this lock is a reasonable deterrent
