I have just started Yogalates and this has been a great way to work upwards. I think Loiuse explains very well for a beginner and I look forward to moving to the more advanced (ever hopeful).

love this yogalates workout
I bought this dvd because I used it a few years ago, I really enjoy the workout and find it very relaxing and calming, which is why I opted to stick with this rather than try a new dvd

Yoga or Pilates? Hmmm let's do both at the same time!
Louise Solomon was injured in a Yoga class, was introduced to Pilates and then went back to Yoga after Pilates helped her recover from her injury. She found a way to blend the two practices, hence the name, Yogalates. This program uses a wide resistance band to aid in your exercises. There are three workouts on this DVD, one is solely mat-based, the second one is mat-based and some standing postures, and the third is a bonus workout that is for people who sit at a desk, you use the band while sitting in your desk chair (this one is 7 minutes long and can be done a few times during your work day). I never feel sore after any of Louise Solomon's workout programs. I love Yogalates because I never get sweaty, never get sore, and I feel the benefits immediately. There is also a guided ... There is also a guided relaxation session on this program. Louise speaks very slowly, and soothingly (with an Aussie accent) and some people find this quite annoying, I, however, do not. You don't need to go out and buy anything to do this workout, I have read a review where a person just used a stretchy knit scarf to follow these programs. If you don't have a mat, that's ok too, I just take a blanket, fold it over so that I lay on two layers and that is just fine on my hard floor, but not so safe for the standing postures, then I work barefoot on my hard floor. As well, you will also need a cushion and a folded handtowel. Basically this program is a good no-excuse (I don't have any equipment and can't afford to buy the expensive gadgets.....) workout. The two main workouts are not that long, one is 26 minutes and the other is 30 minutes. They are effective in toning the arms, legs, buttocks, core muscles (the muscles running up and down the spine and the abdominals) and her directions are so detailed that you can pretty much follow the programs with your eyes closed! She always works you slowly into the 'advanced' part of each exercise with some preparation moves, and she gives you the option of staying in the preparation mode and not doing the more challenging part. Her method is effective, relaxing and I really feel like I did something good for myself when I follow her programs. She has several other dvd's out and I enjoy all of the ones I have. I also have the Yogalates book that she wrote (I take her book with me when I go on holiday because most holiday places don't have DVD players in the rooms) and I thoroughly enjoy that. I bought this particular DVD because I had her Total Body Toner and her book. I enjoy Yogalates for a variety of reasons, but the main one is that it really fits in with my lifestyle. I have a toddler and when she was a baby, I could stop the session, tend her and then jump back in where I left off. That just simply isn't an option with mainstream fitness programs like aerobics and free weights (as you need to properly cool down and stretch before stopping). I also enjoy it because I can do it any time in the privacy of my home. If you are looking for a program that has funky or new age music and a pretty set, then don't buy this one, the set is stark white and the only 'background noise' is Louise's voice and her breaths. This type of program isn't for everyone, but it is for me and I just thorougly love it!

Yogalates DVD
Good DVD with 2 easy-to-follow workouts on it. I'm new to yogalates but it pushes you enough so that you feel it, not so much that it hurts. Unfortunately it doesn't tell you that you need an elastic pilates exercise band for some of the tension work so I now need to buy one of those. But other than that a very good dvd overall.

However, they are actually efective in strengthening your muscles and flexing your body. Say goodbye to a 100% sedentary life, because this dvd proves that exercice doesn't need to be a hideous duty - it can be a highly enjoyable and relaxing activity!This video is a great value for anyone who wants a good home exercice routine. The exercices do not leave you tired - they make you feel enerzised and rejuvenated. However, they are actually efective in strengthening your muscles and flexing your body.
