This is a manual flash. It is easy to use but takes time to master. I have not yet mastered it. The controls are fairly basic. The flash is fairly powerful and recycle time reasonable to good. It is a fairly large unit but this has not put me off.

It is my first flash and I'm as novice as it can get in photography. I got great results and lousy results with this flash and I blame them mainly on my lack of experience. It light up subjects quite nicely, the zoom function allow you to set the width of your beam and of course there is the power setup. I also like the built in diffuser and reflector card and loved it's slave mode! I got very poor results trying to take pictures in pitch dark night next to a camp fire but I'm certain that it has something to do with the settings and not the flash. The build quality is excellent, it's sturdy and does not feel like cheap plastic. It's heavy (heavier than my GH2!) and hence the camera tend to tip forward when mounted on the body. It's also quite big and takes more room than my camera and lens. Prospect buyer should take it into account..Read full review
The product is well built. The upper part rotates horizontaly and verticaly, it has a servor motor that moves the lamp as you set the zoom range in milimeters. It has flash sensor in the front to serve as slave flash. It comes with feet inside the carrying pouch. It has connector for external battery pack. To turn on and off, you have to hold the power until it light up or off all the flash modes. To test the flash, you have to press hard and hold the led button on the left botton until it flashes. It has bounce card and wide lens on top of the main lens. It is capable of burst shot if you set the frequency and power rightly, tested with Sony Alpha 57 DSLR. The maximum shots are limited by power. Very strong flash lamp. It is power hungry if set at high power.
I was looking for a flashgun to go with my Canon camera, I couldn't afford the Canon Speedlite but this one appeared to be a good alternative.I have used it on one occasion where I took about 200 pictures. The results were in general pretty good, the only times pictures weren't quite right was because I had set it incorrectly, I think with practice it will become more familiar thus giving consistent pictures. It appears a little heavy when you first fix it to the camera, but you soon get used to it. The recharge time is excellent, no more than a second or two.I can't speak for battery life as they are still going strong. The LED screen on the back is very clear and easy to operate. I am very happy with what I have bought and it's up to me to master the controls.
