It's a good idea, however if you're used to anchoring your thumb on a soap bar pick up bass, this rest will be too high for you and quite annoying to get used to. I modded the 0 mod by dremeling a dome for the neck pick up screw and drilled 2 new mounting points on the Rickenbacker. So 0 mod turned in to Mod 1. It works fine now. I changed my bass because it's a tool for music, I didn't change the myself for the tool.

That is of course a matter of opinion. Thousands have found this design
just fine (myself included!) But we offer several other designs on our website
that address your concerns, (See LowBoy and LongBoy)
