I have owned many mp3 players but this one excels beyond all my expectations. With 40gb of storage you can store 1000,s of songs with ease. the controls may appear a little daunting at first but I found after a short time, this was just as easy to use as any ipod. Perhaps not as attractive or as slimline as your modern ipod but the 140 more than compensates for this with the best sound quality I have ever heard in an mp3 player, a point you will find well documented in most reviews. you can readily hear the differences between the different equaliser settings or choose your own user equaliser. this player is definately the audiophile,s choice. the display is easy to read and understand with all the information you require such as, artist, album, and song. There is even two level meters, one for either headphone. My advice on the subject of earphones is to get the best you can afford in order to enjoy the full potential of this player. I believe one of the best value for money earphones to use would be the koss "the plug". these can be purchased for about £10 a pair off ebay and fit into your ears using foam cushions. one advantage of these is their ability to shut out almost any outside noise which means you can listen to your favorite music at a lower volume so saving your ears and in addition extending the player,s battery life. These earphones come with a spare set of cushions and the sound quality is good particularily the base. In summary, if you really want the best audio experience on the move and aren,t overly concerned about state of the art modern looks (although in my opinion there is nothing wrong with this player,s appearance) this has to be one of the best players out there. second hand players can be picked up from £70-£100+ but they represent superb value for money. durability, build quality and and a dedicated website and fanbase mean you can be reasured of many years use from this little gem. even today the 140 easily holds it,s own in terms of sound quality and value for money, in fact this player beats many of the latest players out there. If you can get your hands on one, go for it, you won,t regret it.Read full review
This player is old technology now but dont be put off. The sound quality is the best I have heard from a portable player. You can record uncompressed wav or ogg vorbis files and drag or copy them on here. If you buy the 40 gig version you will still have room for loads of music. Its particularly suited to windows however I have worked out how to use it with osx but its a bit fiddly due to itunes being so unhelpful. The menu system is clunky and the disc takes its time to find the data but i would still recommend this player above any other I have used. Make sure you get and dont lose the original power supply though as an incorrect voltage will kill the hard drive.
