I was excited to receive this Roomba as it has a larger dirt compartment than my previous (old original) Roomba model. The battery lasts long enough to cover a large room and it works well. Problem is, I have 3 dogs and that means A LOT of dog hair so the brush gets full pretty quick. Running the vac more often helps a little, but the good thing is that they've made the brush VERY easy to remove & clean. Pieces of "stuff" the size of a quarter or so (wood bark from the fireplace in my case) won't get picked up. Otherwise, this is a great little machine to run when you need a little pick-me-up. It's not fast, but that's ok. I'm satisfied.
This is my second irobot discovery. I also own a scooba.First things first, this is not meant to replace a dyson or upright vacuum as a sole cleaning product for your household. However, if you are looking for something to augment a regular cleaning routine, these do the trick. I'm fairly tech savvy, so I've not experienced a need to call irobot for service, so I dont have much to share in that department. I've found that it isn't too difficult to troubleshoot problems that arise (which isn't that often) using online service manual, forums, etc. My kids absolutely love the irobots; naming them, chasing them, guessing which path they will take next. The good: artificial intelligence seems fairly robust, self docking, lightweight for carrying up stairs, vacuum suction seems fairly strong for such a small design. The bad: battery longevity, cleaning the bristles is a pain (that could use a better design), pre-thinking room layout prior to starting (I don't own lighthouses or virtual walls).Read full review
I have owned IRobot Roombas for years now. And they do a great job! As a dog owner, it keeps up on the hair. It even picks up the sand that we inevitably track in here in the south. I would highly recommend them However, I would also recommend an extended warranty be purchased with them as well. They do work great, but not for long. I have gone through more than I can recount. That's why I always get a Square Trade warranty with them. Square Trade is very reliable. I have never had an issue with their guarantee of repair or refund.

I love the iRobot Roomba Discovery 4210's sound-based dirt-detection system and ability to clean under furniture and in tight corners. i also think that it is fun to watch as it scurries across the room. it's really fast and convenient for peolpe with not a lot of time on their hands. One thing for sure, is that this robotic vacuum is ideal for "in-between" cleanings. The Roomba Discovery takes four or five times as long to vacuum a standard-sized room as a human being with an upright vacuum. i am kind of frustrated by its seemingly random behavior as it bounces off walls and furniture. it's a crazy thing, but who knows what robotic thing is next!! It's also fun to see my pet dogs chase and bark at the thing, while it is cleaning and doing the best thing in life, working hard. also another good thing about it , is that you can actually sit down, relax, watch telivision, cook dinner, and even help your kids with their homework while the robotic notation of the machine does you and your kids chores....hey, at least it knocks off paying the kids allowance for vaccuming..next the dishes, and then what can you pay them for..tht's right, nothing...no more allowance saves money.. so i'd advise to buy it...Read full review
I bought this Roomba to keep up with dog hair. It has served that purpose, but is much better on bare floors than on carpet. On floors the battery lasts 90+ mins. and it does a very good job getting dirt and hair. On carpet: If you have kids and/or pets, the Roomba is really only good for 'touch ups' in between real vacuuming on carpets. It just isn't big and strong enough to pull all the hair and dirt out of the pile, & the battery lasts less than an hour on carpet. The brushes and dust bin need to be cleaned with just about every use to keep it performing as desired. I bought my Roomba on ebay (factory reconditoned) for half the retail price. Overall I'm happy with it and would recommend buying it at a good price, but it's not worth full retail.
