Monitor seems to be working fine for a £79 purchase but thought the black frame around the screen would be thinner like other IIyama 24" monitors I have

I bought this to replace an ancient Dell TFT, and because I wanted a bigger screen and built-in speakers. I wasn't worried about the narrower screen viewing angles on a TN screen, as I'm using this sitting at a desk, but did hope for good colour. All in all I'm impressed. Online reviews suggested I might have to change the colour profile but in fact this has not seemed necessary, though I haven't calibrated it. It's very easy to rotate the screen 90 degrees, though it seems alarmingly tall when you do so - when horizontal the TV stands a little high even at its lowest setting, presumably to cater for rotation. The speakers are a little puny, I actually hooked up a set of Logitech USB speakers instead but others might not be so fussy - thin monitors can't expect to have much speaker ability. As far as screen resolution is concerned, my main screen is a 27" Dell with 2540 x 1440 but that's somewhat extreme (used for design) and this one is fine for normal purposes - it lives on my back-up computer and means you can do the accounts and watch TV at the same time, as intended. My ancient Nvidia 7600GS graphics card handles the resolution with no problems and the screen is actually nice and fast. Looks-wise the message is that it's very black. Nothing to quicken the pulse. There is a plastic cable management clip on the back of the stand which arrived bust but that's no great loss. But the bezel is as thin as that on the big Dell and nothing offends in the least. Shall we say it looks businesslike and leave it at that? The on-screen menus are a bit primitive, with hard-do-identify buttons on the bottom edge of the screen - I might rub the moulded logos over with something white to make them easier to see. When "on" there is a discreet blue light pointing downwards - this goes orange in standby mode and both lights are discreet but reflect enough in the stand to be visible. Finally, the ports are ample for me, I don't need DisplayPort, I have not tried the HDMI connection but am using DVI - the composite/S-video ports may come in useful at some point.Read full review
Always liked iiyama screens and this is no exception. Good colour and real black this is rates very highly as monitors go. Now discontinued difficult to get new, I picked mine up used but in perfect condition at a fraction of the cost I paid for the same model 2 years ago!!
