For sale is my much loved landrover. The landrover is a series 3 109 station wagon with safari roof.  It currently has 2 months mot but will come with 12, its tax free, has a fairey overdrie fitted and is in fantastic original, unrestored, unmolested condition.

 It is a 12 seater – 3 in the front rowm, 3 in the middle row and two opposing benches in rear for 6. The body work is in great- It is very straight with only a couple of tiny dents. The paintwork is also good and I think completely original, so obviously after 40years, it has the odd mark, and stone chips. There is a slight crack on the front passenger wing where is has a small amount of filler, but other than that it’s in truly remarkable condition for its age and always attracts comments on its condition. The interior of this Landy is incredible. Every last switch, knob, buckle, catch, bit of trim etc is there, in great condition and fully functioning. The front seats are good modern copies of the orginals, with all the others being original and in great condition.  This vehicle is totally solid, fully complete and in full working order. The chassis, crossmember and bulkhead are totally solid. The chassis has been waxoyled regularly and has only had a couple of small pathches in its life. I shouldn’t think its been off road in many many years as it is spotless underneath. The rear crossmember has been replaced at some point with a new one made of a heavier gauge steel and is totally solid. The vehicle has had the suspension uprated and the ride is supereb – more robust spring mounts have been professionally fitted using modern leaf springs. The brakes have just been bled and adjusted, with a vacuum feed taken from a modern Ford alternator – This makes for much more powerful brakes than standard as well as charging faster. In a nut shell it stops really well for a forty year old landrover. The steering system has been renovated in the past year, with new ball joints and a new steering relay. Most old landys wonder all over the road- this one doesn’t! This Landy was originally a 6 cylinder petrol, but has been converted to a 2.5 ford diesel engine. This conversion has been done to the highest standard and the engine is fantasic. This conversion totally transforms the drive, allowing comfortable cruising upto 70mph and returning 35-40 mpg!! The engine is mounted to the original gearbox using a proper adaptor kit. The engine has just had a full service with all fluids and filters changed. The gearbox has had a recent oil change and is in good working order. Currently there is a fairey overdrive fitted – this unit was completely rebuilt before fitting last year and runs silently and smoothly, a truly great overdrive when so many are noisey and clunky. This overdrive can be included in the sale for an extra £350. The vehicle has 5 A/T tyres fitted. 4 are next to new being about 6 months old and the other (the spare) isn’t much older. The vehicle has a full stainless exhaust fitted which sould never rust. There are military swivel covers fitted so the swivels are A1. It has a halogen headlamp conversion. There is a steering damper fitted. There is an adjustable tow ball fitted and it tows really well. I recently towed another landrover 109 on a car trailer for 300miles cross country with this and it didn’t mind at all!

Overall, this is a fantastic classic landrover. I reiterate that it’s in fantastic original condition – it has not been restored with bits and pieces from everywhere, it has not be resprayed. This one is original and as such shows some signs of patina from its 40 years on the road, but even a quick glance shows that this is a vehicle that has been very well cared for all its life.  With the uprated suspension, engine and more powerful brakes it can be used as a daily driver, happily keeping up with modern traffic all day long. Its tax free, rot free, will have 12 months MOT and will make you very happy.

Further engine info: The engine is a 2.5 litre direct injection engine. It does not have a turbo fitted. As it is it puts out around 75bhp (from memory )but about twice as much torque as the standard Series engines. This model of engine is also avilable with a turbo fitted,the only difference being the injectors and injection pump, so in theory you could add a turbo to this type of engine relatively easily.
