A nice little modem for people who prefer a wired connection rather than a wireless one. This modem has one socket to connect one computer to the Internet. There are two versions of the DSL 320B, the early version which lays flat, and the later version which stands upright on its edge. The later - newer - Z1 hardware seems to have far more configuration settings when compared to the early model. For security reasons make sure both versions are updated to the latest firmware before you start using it. The early D1 hardware should be using Firmware v1.25 and the later Z1 hardware should be using Firmware v1.08. These updates are not interchangeable, so make sure you use the correct firmware for the right modem. Firmware updates are available from the D-Link website.

I bought this to separate the modem from the rest of my network. It works well as a stand alone modem - with 1 Ethernet connection. Not a lot of useful for a WIFI tablet. However, You can only set it up if you have a PC to load the setup program onto. There is no Mac software. Also, it will NOT talk to Apple Airport Express nor Apple Airport Extreme. Cant really say why not but something in the protocols stop it. There's plenty of info on the web. D-Link do make other modems that are Mac friendly so go for one of those. Good value if it would work with Apple.
The modem is small, jut does what it promises like a dream. I bought it to use as a transparent modem because my router has no ADSL in. The modem does that job great but my router is not PPPoA capable so I had to dive deep into the config. Actually it can do every basic routing things (DHCP server, port forearding, port trigger, firewall, etc)

Strongly recommended for ADSL use _as a modem_ only, as long as a couple of precautions are taken. Not for use as a router and not for use with VDSL / FTTC. * Important: This device must only be used as a modem, not as a router. Older firmware versions contain disastrous security bugs. This is vitally important, buy yours preconfigured securely in modem-only modem to be used with a router as part of a two-box solution and then the security issues won't matter at all. However do make sure your modem's admin functions can not be accessed _through_ your router from your main LAN. Very aggressive, fast performer on long ADSL lines. Nice feature: Supports full 1500+8=1508 byte MTU for maximum compatibility with all servers on the internet, provided that both your router and DSL service both support MTU 1508 (includes BT 21CN, not BT 20CN) Important: Some of the defaults are wrong in the setup: the tickbox "enable bitswap" must be ticked. Also might as well tick the "enable SRA" option too, in case your service supports this excellent capability.Read full review

Had one of these (or a predecessor with the same chipset) Simple and useful: doesn't try to be too much.
