Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 2nd Grade offers nine educational activities designed to enhance child math prowess, reading comprehension, geography and creativity. The included activities cover over 40 important skills.
Activities are chosen from Andy's Room -- the central hub. Because they're strewn about, finding them builds exploration and navigational skills. The various activities provide a choice of difficulty settings making the game playable for both younger and older children ranging in ages 6-8.
Building double-digit addition and subtraction skills, Math on the Rolling Range requires you to erect maze-like paths to destroy a barn by solving equations. Doodle Challenge is a word-based activity in which you spell words and draw pictures with correct letter guesses. With fractions, geometric shapes, prediction and critical thinking skills, Fractions Arcade lets you help Rex destroy asteroids from a first-person perspective.
Earth Builder builds world geography, mapping and vocabulary skills through the placement of puzzle pieces on a globe and Buzz Lightyear offers hints as to where certain pieces go. Mini-Rocket Math features multiplication problems with alien creatures and rockets. Once the given problem has been solved, the rockets blast off into outer space.
Andy's Scrapbook concentrates on story comprehension, reading, punctuation and vocabulary by offering several stories in which you rearrange and change words to enhance the tale. After modifying the plot, Bo Peep will read it aloud. Time After Time incorporates digital and analog clocks with time telling skills.
Sonic Arranger Mark II builds upon Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 1st Grade through the creation of sounds, the listening of music and the foundations of chord and key progressions. Never played a keyboard before? Don't fret -- this activity goes over various notes and their relations to the keys.
There's also a Call-and-Response cartridge located in Andy's Room that features computer-generated notes and sounds that you must play back. Finally, Andy's Book of Brain Teasers builds upon a plethora of skills with many types of puzzles included. Because of their design, you can print out these teasers and take them to school or on road trips!
Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 2nd Grade also features parental controls for various activities and global options.
