I bought this to supplement a Lotus PF12000 which constantly leaked. The fish Mate Filter has a band that clamps the top to the bottom very securely whereas the Lotus has about six over centre clamps , when internal pressure gets too much- 7 psi - the water leaks out. I have never had this problem with the Fish Mate Filter. It is also much easier to clean, The Lotus Product requires much more effort to turn the cleaning selector, Fish Mate is so easy. The only drawback with the Fish Mate 15000 is that it doesn't have a UV claritier, otherwise it would be a Superb product.

My fault, I thought the item would have an ultra violet facility, consequently it does not produce clear water, clean yes but clear. I also have an issue with the drain, if you attach a drain pipe it constantly runs, so you have to remove it and fit the blanking plug. Then when you do want to clean the system, you have to remove the blanking plug, fit the waste pipe before turning the lever to clean. Rather strange.

These are brilliant filters I have 2 running on my pond for 12+ years now I replace UV every spring and I can see the bottom it’s 4.5 feet deep. 11 foot long and 7 foot wide. Great filters
